Akwaaba Pharmacy POS & Inventory Ecosystem

Case study for the Akwaaba Pharmacy POS system, an advanced inventory application featuring FEFO batch analytics and synchronized multi-terminal clinical workflows.

Overview

Built as a targeted expansion of the Akwaaba retail framework, the Akwaaba Pharmacy System is a highly specialized medical point-of-sale and live inventory application designed to handle strict pharmaceutical compliance, patient prescription handoffs, and rigid expiration management.

Challenge

Pharmacy systems require far more guardrails than standard retail setups. The platform needed to ensure that expiring medications are sold in a strict chronological sequence to prevent waste, while also structuring a secure data bridge between clinical staff inputting prescriptions and cashiers handling final collection at the counter

Approach and Solution

I architected a centralized multi-terminal commerce and clinical database system designed to translate real-time sales transactions and stock checks into direct administrative oversight. I engineered the platform’s analytical core to automate data aggregation across two primary operational fields:

Real-Time Financial & Valuation Tracking: Built responsive metric systems that continuously calculate daily operations—including immediate sales margins, monthly accumulated revenue totals, and macro stock capitalizations based on current active inventory values.

Proactive Stock & Compliance Analytics: Engineered automatic tracking metrics that continuously monitor product thresholds, displaying instant inventory warnings for low-stock thresholds, outright out-of-stock deficits, and imminent batch expiry timelines.

Visual Performance Frameworks: Structured dedicated visual panels to graph performance trends, pairing a real-time tracking interface to map daily revenue movements alongside structured data models displaying high-performing medicine movements (such as Paracetamol quantities sold)
